Police Officer Sacked Over “Racist” Text Messages

Following a misconduct hearing on 7 October 2015 two Metropolitan Police Officers were sacked.  The two Officers combined had more than thirty messages on their mobile phones which the Metropolitan Police stated were “racist and discriminatory in tone and content”.

The BBC reported one of the sacked Officers P.C. George Cooper worked for an Armed Police Unit (SO6) and was found to have twenty four improper text messages on his mobile phone.

The Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner Fiona Taylor from the Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) said “there is no place for Officers who hold racist views in London’s Police Service”.
