Police Officer Jailed Over Sexual Assaults

On 4 October 2016 the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) reported that a former West Midlands Police Officer had been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment after admitting sexually assaulting women while on duty.

Steven Walters committed the offences against two women between February and April 2015.  He previously denied two counts of sexual assault but later changed his pleas to guilty.

The Police Force considered his admissions of guilt and dismissed him from the Force on 3 October 2016.

IPCC Commissioner Derrick Campbell stated:

“we carried out a thorough investigation after this matter was referred to us, and that found that Walters had completely abused his position of trust by targeting and taking advantage of vulnerable women for his own sexual gratification”
