10th February 2016

On 5 February 2016 the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) reported that Temporary Police Sergeant David Andrew Gibson was found guilty following trial at Liverpool Crown Court of engaging in a sexual act with a sex worker whilst on duty.  The Police Officer was given a 2.5 year custodial sentence.

IPCC Commissioner, Carl Gumsley is reported as stating:

“Merseyside Police’s Anti-Corruption Unit, under the management of the IPCC, conducted a thorough, and professional investigation into the allegation against T/PS Gibson.  It is vital that such allegations against Police Officers are brought to the attention of the Police and the IPCC, properly investigated, and the appropriate legal proceedings allowed to take their course”.
