Ben Hoare Bell Partner and Family Solicitor Mark Harrison was elected President of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society on 29th February 2016. Mark will now represent over 1000 solicitors in the Newcastle area on behalf of the Newcastle Law Society, established in 1826.
Mark has been a family lawyer in the North East for over 30 years. He was born in Newcastle and has always practiced on Tyneside so is a genuine representative for the area. Mark began his legal career in 1982 and since 2012 has been a Partner at Ben Hoare Bell.
Mark deals with a wide range of family law issues at the firm, including divorce and separation, domestic violence, property and financial matters. He is also a specialist Collaborative family lawyer, a non-confrontational process which allows the parties to agree to resolve their separation issues without going to court.
Mark is also accredited as a Specialist by the family lawyers’ organisation Resolution in three areas of law (Advanced Financial Provision, Domestic Abuse and Children Law). He has been a member of the Law Society Children Panel since 1994 and regularly represents children, parents and other family members in court proceedings, often involving social services.
Being elected President recognises Mark’s reputation and ability to represent over 1000 solicitors in the Newcastle area. Newcastle Law Society is one of the oldest law societies in the UK having held its first meeting in 1826. Mark said:

I aim to continue the work of the Society in not only supporting the profession, but also those individuals and organisations who rely on the advice, skill and guidance of their solicitors”.
