LEGAL AID FIRM OF THE YEAR 2014

Ben Hoare Bell LLP has been named LEGAL AID FIRM OF THE YEAR 2014 at this year’s Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards.

Jeff DeanThe awards are now into their 12th year and are run by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group to recognise excellence among access to justice lawyers. The Legal Aid Firm of the Year award is sponsored by The Law Society.

The awards ceremony took place in London on the 5th June with over 400 people in attendance. Ben Hoare Bell faced tough competition and was shortlisted with three outstanding organisations, including the Howard League for Penal Reform, an organisation which acts for young people against prison authorities. The ceremony, compered by Anna Jones from Sky News, kicked off with a very powerful film by the Justice Alliance. Click here to watch the moving video. The short film emphasises the importance of Legal Aid and the work that is done to ensure people have access to justice. Cris McCurley (herself a finalist in the Family Lawyer of the Year category) accepted the award on behalf of the firm and dedicated the win to Jeff Dean, the recently retired Practice Manager, paying tribute to his influence on the ethos of the practice as a whole which has led to the award.
