Fatal Police Shooting

On Monday 2nd January 2017 Yassar Yaqub died from gunshot wounds to the chest after being shot by a West Yorkshire Police Firearms Officer during a planned Police Operation.

It is reported Mr Yaqub was travelling in a white Audi which was stopped by unmarked Police vehicles on a slip road of the M62 in the planned operation.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the fatal shooting. яндекс. They state a non-Police issue firearm, found in the Audi, is undergoing ballistics and forensic testing.

The IPCC state none of the Police Officers involved were wearing body worn video cameras. As at 5th January 2017 the IPCC stated no relevant CCTV footage of the incident had been found.
