On Saturday the 29th March a few of us from the firm were delighted to be at the Vermont Hotel in the centre of Newcastle at an event to celebrate same sex marriage. It was wonderful to see the rainbow flag flying in the centre of Newcastle! It was also so great to talk to Mark Nichols – chair of the Newcastle Pride and to hear about the exciting plans that are in hand for Pride this year – we are very very excited about going to the Pride festival again this year and are so proud at this firm about our links with Pride North East and The Fed! We can’t wait for Pride!
It’s a really unusual and strange feeling having legislation that actually makes some progress and a positive contribution towards equality, especially in the current climate and in light of the legal aid cuts. It’s not a perfect act and there are many issues that have yet to be sorted out; however, it is a step in the right direction – hopefully the progress will continue!
