Ben Hoare Bell and Recyke Y’Bike Ride in Tandem

We recently helped Recyke Y’Bike appoint a community development worker, so it seemed a good idea to visit their workshops, which are situated under the railway arches in Byker, Newcastle. Recyke Y’Bike is a community project that accepts donated bikes, in any shape or form. Volunteers then fix or refurbish the bikes in order to sell them on to the public. Some of the bikes are sent to projects in Africa, to be used for schools and community health programmes. The organisation also provides bicycle maintenance classes, learn to ride classes, and other services to the public and local schools. Recyke Y’Bike also supports a range of people who might not otherwise get to cycle.

We were given a tour around the workshop, where the bikes are turned around and given a new lease of life. Recyke Y’Bike is certainly an impressive operation. Jeff even got to test ride a tandem bike that had been donated that day!Ben Hoare Bell ride with Recyke Y'Bike

Ben Hoare Bell are proud to support Recyke Y’Bike. We are organisations based in the communities that we seek to serve, both providing high quality work based on inventive and original thinking.
