A West Mercia police officer has been charged with the murder of former footballer Dalian Atkinson who died after being tasered in 2016.
Mr Atkinson tragically died on 15 August 2016 after being tasered during an incident near his father’s home in Telford.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) made the decision to charge the officer following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
An alternative charge of unlawful act manslaughter has also been put forward by the CPS for the officer.
A second West Mercia Police officer has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) arising from the incident.
