On 8 January 2019 it was reported that 17 members of staff had been suspended at Middlesbrough West Lane Hospital for using “non-approved techniques” with regards to patients.
It is understood Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust has launched an investigation which is being overseen by the Care Quality Commission and NHS England.
It is understood that the claims are that staff used techniques for moving patients which were “not taught and not in line with trust policy”.
The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been made available.
If you, or a family member was a patient at West Lane Hospital’s Westwood Centre and you have concerns about treatment received please contact our Solicitors Richard Hardy or Andrew Freckleton to discuss further.
