In August 2018 we hosted a Law Society focus group. The Law Society has been preparing a submission to the Ministry of Justice’s Post-Implementation Review of Part 1 of LASPO. The focus group included some of our own solicitors as well as other legal practitioners from the North East.
LASPO – short for the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 – brought in a range of cuts to legal aid. The event, held at our Newcastle office, was arranged by the Law Society in order to get real life evidence of the consequences of LASPO. The evidence gathered from the focus groups has now been compiled into a report. This has been submitted to the Ministry of Justice and we now wait for their findings due at the end of the year.
We are pleased that our representations have been included. You can read the full report here.
