On Friday 11 December 2015 a man was shot dead by armed Metropolitan Police Officers in North London. A 28 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene following a Police operation. The same day the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) who oversees the Police complaints system in England & Wales started an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The IPCC have stated that they have been obtaining initial accounts of the incident from Police Officers involved together with statements from members of the public who witnessed the shooting. The IPCC state the Police Officers involved in the operation were Specialist Firearms Officers who are not issued with body worn video cameras.
