Northumbria Police have reported the outcome of a disciplinary hearing heard on 29 July 2019 when a final written warning was given to a police officer for misconduct.
The Police have not published the officer’s name. It was alleged the sergeant whilst drunk off duty was abusive to police officers and hotel staff. Further allegations were made that the officer kicked out at a community support officer and swung punches at the hotel manager which missed, presumably due to the police officer’s drunken state.
It has not been disclosed whether the sergeant was arrested and/or prosecuted for any assault.
The disciplinary hearing took the form of a ‘misconduct meeting’. The officer received the most severe disciplinary punishment available in the circumstances- a final written warning.
