Mark Harrison

I have been a family lawyer for over 35 years and have extensive experience and expertise in many areas.

I am a member of¬†Newcastle Law Society Standing Committee and a Past President of the Society. When I was President I contributed a monthly column to the Society’s magazine – ‘Newcastle News’. Click here to read my column.

When I meet clients for the first time, they are usually anxious and at a difficult point in their lives. Whatever the nature of their problem, I pride myself in offering sensitive, straightforward advice in plain English. I aim to help find practical solutions wherever possible.

I can assist in respect of all issues involved in relationship breakdown for married, unmarried and same sex couples, including separation and divorce, financial issues, arrangements for children, and the preparation of pre nuptial and separation agreements.

I am a member of Resolution and promote a non confrontational approach to family problems, with particular emphasis on the best interests of any children involved. I hold the Resolution Specialist Accreditation in Advanced Financial Provision, Children Law and Domestic Abuse.

My lengthy experience has taught me that the best outcomes are usually achieved by reaching agreement wherever possible. I am a Collaborative Lawyer and in this process the parties agree to resolve their issues without going to court.

If court proceedings cannot be avoided, I am able to represent clients in all levels of court as I have many years’ advocacy experience and have Higher Rights of Audience.

I have also been a member of the Law Society Children Law Panel since 1994 and regularly represent children, parents and other family members in court proceedings, often involving Social Services. I have dealt with numerous children cases involving complex issues.

If you are reading this, the likelihood is that you have a family problem. It is also likely that I can help you with it. Contact me and I will explain how.

I am also a member of the Law Society of England and Wales’ Children Law Subcommittee.
