29th February 2016

We are delighted to be partners in this very important event taking place at Trinity Chambers on 23rd March 2016.

The event concerns the fate of very vulnerable women and children who fall foul of having an unregistered marriage. Organiser and speaker at the event, Aina Khan, has written this briefing on the topic: Briefing on ‘Register Our Marriage (ROM)’ campaign by Aina Khan

There are many negative outcomes for our clients who find themselves in this position, often only when the marriage breaks down, and realise that their properly celebrated Islamic marriage in the UK is not ‘legal’ for the purposes of financial relief and other benefits under the Matrimonial Causes Act. This can leave women and children homeless and destitute.

‘Register Our Marriage’ takes place at Trinity Chambers in Newcastle on Wednesday 23rd March 2016. The event starts at 5pm. There are limited spaces so if you are interested in attending the event please book straight away.
