Police Officer Dismissed for Gross Misconduct

On 13 June 2016 the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) reported that following their investigation a Humberside Police Officer had been dismissed for using excessive force.

P.C. Lee Curtis was dismissed following a 4 day disciplinary hearing.  The allegations related to an incident on 17 October 2014 when Police stopped a van in Grimsby.  The driver was removed by force. A video camera in the Police vehicle showed P.C. Curtis “bouncing on the man as he lay restrained on the ground”.

IPCC Associate Commissioner Tom Milsom was quoted as stating “there is no place for this sort of behaviour in modern day policing”.
