Officer Charged with Punching Teenager

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) oversees and sometimes independently investigates complaints against the police.

The IOPC completed its investigation into a South Wales Police Officer P.C. Paul Evans following an incident in Bridgend on 14 January 2018. It is alleged on that date a 14 year old boy was punched by P.C. Paul Evans. A complaint was made by the boy’s family and referred to the IOPC by South Wales Police. Following the IOPC investigation the CPS authorised an assault charge. P.C. Paul Evans appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court on 3 August 2018 and pleaded not guilty. He has been bailed pending a further hearing before the Magistrates Court on 22 August 2018.
