Kirklevington Abuse Investigation

Cleveland Police has now been contacted by many former inmates of Kirklevington Detention Centre. Victims report that they were physically and sexually abused by members of staff at the detention centre over many years.

As part of the ongoing complex Police investigation officers have been obtaining statements from former inmates. We understand Cleveland Police have since been able to forward a case file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration. The CPS will now need to spend a considerable period of time looking at the evidence obtained before a decision can be made as to whether any former officers can be charged with any criminal offences. At this stage it is unclear when such a charging decision will be reached.

At Ben Hoare Bell we represent a number of former Kirklevington inmates in respect of compensation claims both to the Ministry of Justice and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. https://www.onyamagazine.com/australian-affairs/all-slots-online-casino-review-things-to-be-known-by-players/.

If you are a former inmate of Kirklevington Detention Centre our initial advice is to:

  1. Contact Cleveland Police as soon as possible to make a criminal complaint and cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
  2. Contact a solicitor specialising in the field of child abuse to discuss whether you are able to pursue a claim. There is no need to wait until the outcome of the criminal investigation before getting some advice.

If you wish to discuss a new enquiry please do not hesitate to contact our team on 0191 516 0466 or by email to advice@benhoarestaging.local
