Investigation into discrimination in Cleveland Police

The Police Watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) stated on 23rd March 2016 that it is conducting an independent investigation after an employment tribunal concluded that a Cleveland Police Officer was subject to victimisation and discrimination due to his race from a number of colleagues. PC Nadeem Saddique raised the concerns at an employment tribunal following which Cleveland Police referred the matter to the IPCC.

IPCC Commissioner Mary Cunneen said:

…the employment tribunal judgment raises serious concerns which potentially impact on the confidence in Cleveland Police, not just from the public, but also the employers of the force. It is therefore important that an independent investigation is conducted to examine the concerns thoroughly.”
