IDAHO: North East Awards

We are really proud to be part of this year’s LGBT North East Awards hosted by the Rainbow Foundation for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHO).

Rainbow Foundation

IDAHO, celebrated on 17th May, was created in 2004 to become a date for LGBTI communities to mobilise on a worldwide scale. IDAHO is now celebrated in more than 130 countries, uniting millions of people in support of the recognition of human rights for all, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is not one centralised campaign; rather it is a moment that everyone can take advantage of to take action.” (dayagainsthomophobia.org)

A few years ago, the LGBT North East group ran an awards project which awarded positive work in the region in relation to LGBT people and it is great to see the initiative back this year and we are really proud to be sponsoring the “Building a Stronger LGBT+ Community” Award at this year’s ceremony.

Community is something we at Ben Hoare Bell know the true value of and we can’t wait to award an individual or community group with this award to recognize the valuable contribution they have made to improving the lives of LGB and T people in the North East of England.

There are 6 awards and you can nominate organisations/individuals here.

Online voting closes on Monday 3rd April 2017.
