It was reported that on 4 April 2019 Footballer Ched Evans agreed a settlement in the region of £800,000 with Manchester Firm Brabners over its handling of a rape case that resulted in Ched Evans being jailed but then later cleared following an appeal.

Evans who now plays for League 1 Fleetwood Town previously played for Manchester City and Sheffield United.  It took him 5 years to clear his name during which time he served 2½ years in Prison having been convicted of raping a 19 year old woman in a Hotel in Wales in May 2011.  The conviction was later quashed in the Court of Appeal after Evans employed a new Defence Team.
