First Woman Convicted for ‘Revenge Porn’ Is Sentenced

On 13th April 2015 “revenge porn” became a criminal offence. The consequence of being found guilty could lead to a prison sentence of up to two years and a fine.

In August we blogged about the first person to be convicted for “revenge porn”. He is due to be sentenced tomorrow.

This month the first woman to be sentenced for “revenge porn” has walked free from court. Paige Mitchell, 24, posted four explicit photographs of her girlfriend on Facebook. The photographs were intended to hurt and humiliate her girlfriend following an argument. Paige Mitchell appeared at Stevenage Magistrates Court this week and was given a six-week suspended jail term.
