Staff arrested for abuse at County Durham Hospital

Ten employees have been arrested over the alleged abuse of patients with learning difficulties at Whorlton Hall in County Durham.

Those arrested were questioned about offences relating to abuse and neglect Durham Constabulary has confirmed.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said the “immediate priority has been to work with other agencies to safeguard the victims at the centre of the allegations and their families”.

Those arrested are to be released under investigation pending further inquiries.
